A Bride for the Prizefighter by Alice Coldbreath

5.0

Let me start off by saying I love that this book takes place beyond the goings on of high society. I think it is great to see how the majority of people during that time lived their day to day lives. It is also great to see a magical love story in such a mundane setting.

Now my thoughts on the story:

THIS is how you write a hero. I don't wish for anything unbecoming to happen to Mina but if something does happen, I will be there with open arms for William Nye. His demeanor, gruffness, his care Mina, his possessiveness, his- well I could go on for days. Nye kept me swooning and blushing. Whenever I talk about the book to other, a smile creeps up on my face at the mere mention of Nye.

Now the book is solely through Mina's perspective, but that didn't bother me not one bit. She's one of those characters that had she been in another book, she probably would have been written off as some high-strung side character, but since she is the main character you really get the nuances of her personality. As you get to know her, her genuine kindness, wit and charm really shines through. She is a dynamic character, and I loved seeing her grow throughout the book. a Besides, Nye is more of a man of action, so we really didn't need to know much of what he was thinking. Besides I thought it was so much fun learning about Nye with Mina.

If you couldn't tell already, I am in love with William Nye.

I plan on reading more of Coldbreath's work. Bravo!
