On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Stephen King

5.0

"On Writing" is not just a manual; it's a testament to the craft and the determination required to pursue it. Stephen King masterfully intertwines the narrative of his own life with practical advice on how to write better. This unique blend of autobiography and writing guidance offers a refreshing departure from mere factual writing tips. King's journey as a writer, coupled with concrete strategies, proves exceptionally valuable. His inclusion of the story of his accident is particularly interesting, a nice reminder to persevere in artistic endeavors despite adversity. Even though I initially craved more specific writing instructions or examples of good and bad writing, I concluded that the book provided everything necessary to embark on my own writing journey and learn the rest through experience. Thank you for the permission slip, Mr. King.
