La Belle Sauvage
by Philip Pullman
How exactly did Lyra end up in Jordan College? How did she come by her alethiometer? And what actually happened during the flood?
Phillip Pullman has been fleshing out Lyra's world through short stories and novellas, but now he's diving deeper into this intriguing place. I love learning more about Oxford and the surrounding area and where Dr. Polstead (Lyra's Oxford) found his start.
I struggled getting to the book, maybe because I knew once I was hooked, I wouldn't be able to put it down. And I was right. This book is worth a re-read as well, because so many characters weave their way through the story. Once the trilogy is finished, it will be fun to read chronologically.
