Keep Me in Your Heart by Monica Murphy

5.0

Another great instalment to the Lancaster Prep series, and an even better than the first in this next gen series!!

This one follows Rowan (Row) and Arabella (Bells). They both attend Lancaster Prep and are in their final year, so thankfully this is more new adult than YA. There is a lot of call backs to the rest of the books, obviously with the rest of Rowans family being the Lancaster's from previous books, and it was really nice to constantly get mentions of these old characters, and even nicer when they were present in the story.

I seriously loved how fast paced this one was.
I feel like it was a lot quicker than the first in this new gen series, and i really appreciated how we were thrown into the action straight away. It was a little confusing at the start for obvious reasons, but things were explained very quickly, and i think the dual POV really helped in getting to know both of the characters a lot quicker too.

The back and forth banter than Row and Bells have is so freaking fun to read about. How they would wind each other up/flirt and tease one another was next level, and even funnier when they didn't want to admit to each other that they were flirting, even though everyone around the COULD OBVIOUSLY TELL!!!! THEY WERE NOT SUBTLE AT ALL ABOUT LIKING EACH OTHER!!!

I also really really really liked just how oblivious Row was to his own feelings for Arabella. Seemed so much more believable and enjoyable than if he was being mean to her because he liked her, or if he was just instantly in love with her from the moment he saw her.

I think that because they already knew each other and were 'friends' they were already half way to falling in love with each other, which is why i probably found it SO GOD DAMN CUTE when he invited her back to his FAMILY HOME for Thanksgiving!!! I know he did it so she wouldn't be alone for the holidays BUT COME ON THAT WAS SO GODS DAMNED ADORABLE AND YOU CAN'T TELL ME THAT SUBCONSCIOUSLY HE WASN'T HOPING FOR SOMETHING MORE TO HAPPEN!!

Speaking of Thanksgiving, i was eating up just how involved the rest of the family were in their relationship. Row and Bells were adamant that nothing was happening (wink wink) but none of the older lancasters believed them for one second and kept calling them out on it lol

This one obviously has other elements to it than just romance, and the parallels between the two families was really interesting and heartbreaking.
Obviosley we all know that the Lancasters are a really close and loving family. They would do anything for each other and are constantly surrounded by each other. Bells family is the complete opposite. Her parents only seemed concerned with themselves and how much money they could make/who they could rub shoulders with to make themselves seem more important than they actually are.
It was heartbreaking to see Bells go from that uncaring family to the Lancasters, and realising what a real family is like. The fact that she said to Rowans mum "i wish you were my mum" had me nearly sobbing.

Again i loved every single little thing about this book, couldn't put it down once i started reading it and i haven't stopped thinking about it either. I would honestly say that this next gen series of the lancaster prep novels might be the best ones (at least for me).
They just seem to move a lot quicker and flow a lot more organically than the others, but that might be because there isn't any world building that needs to be done, we get to just see all of the romance and struggles unfold without anything slowing/weighing it down.

A huge thank you to Monica Murphy and the publishers for giving me the chance to read an arc of this book!!
