Ghosts of My Life: Writings on Depression, Hauntology and Lost Futures by Mark Fisher

3.0

A fairly good book for an introduction into the concept of hauntology. Unfortuntaely, I felt that it focused on music, and a niche form of music at that, far too much. I found myself unable to connect to a lot of the ideas as I did not have the prerequisite knowledge of Jungle, Rave, and Triphop music. Naturally, the ideas came through, as Fisher is an incredible writer, but I felt a disconnect from the subjects that were explored. For my part, I would have preferred a more general approach to the concept of hauntology. Still, it was an interesting book, and helped to give me a framework to analyze how our futures are informed by our last pasts.
