Love Is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield

5.0

On one hand you are witness to Sheffields catharsis of talking about his wife, who died unexpectedly and who still lives in his heart. But even moreso, it's a love letter to the power of sharing the language of music with one another. I loved thinking about the days recording songs off the radio, and even about my old boom box and later stereo, both of which I'll never forget. I remember making tapes for, and receiving tapes from, someone special and the magic those songs still hold for me. A wonderful transportative book, filled with gorgeous, funny and heart wrenching prose. And then there's the music.
