I'm not the target audience for this book, but as a V. E. Schwab fan, I have to read this series. Due to this, I could list a few things that bugged me, but those things are customary in the middle grade genre. So I'll say this: for the genre, and the target audience, this was a good book. If I were younger, I think I would have liked this series because of the eerie atmosphere. I also really liked the dynamic between Cassidy and Jacob, and I'm excited to discover more about Jacob.
