I don't have an issue with the writing. I thought there was very well depicted scenes that were very captivating and grotesque. Yes, there is a main character that is unlikeable. No character in this story is very likeable, honestly.
I knew going into this book that there was going to be shock and unsettling events and descriptions happening. But that was the ONLY thing that happened. Everything was written just for shock and I had a hard time  having the underlying message really mean something as I didn't feel invested because it feels detached. It was also kind of boring, which is surprising given the content within the work.

And the ending?? Kind of saw it coming. Wasn't really surprised by it.

I had a hard time believing the main character was capable of feeling in general.
