The Silent Gift
by Cindy Kelley, Michael Landon Jr, Michael Landon Jr
Although it's been years since I read Blessed Child by Ted Dekkar, The Silent Gift reminded me a great deal of that book I've long thought about and often recommended to others. The Silent Gift is about a deaf-mute boy with a gift of prophecy and a mother who fiercely loves him as she her struggle to protect him. I appreciated the conflict between surviving and making morally responsible decisions during a time when so many were struggling to stay ahead and Mary's struggle to trust a God who seemed to have abandoned her at times in her life. I admired her and her determination to show love to a boy who was different from his peers. The ending seemed a bit strange to me, but otherwise I enjoyed the book.
