A Warning by Miles Taylor, Anonymous
3.0
While I agree with the sentiments expressed here about Trump’s character, temperament, etc., this book did not really provide me with any new information. The author’s understandable effort to remain anonymous and shield the anonymity of their colleagues made much of this book opaque, shallow, and a regurgitation of popular headlines about Trump’s seemingly infinite minor and major self-inflicted crises.
However, the author does join a growing chorus of public intellectuals, primarily falling into the moderate category, warning us that our public discourse is toxic and Trump is mostly emblematic or symptomatic of our more systemic social problems of polarization, incivility, and tribalism. Is this the president we deserve? Is this who we want to be? These are important questions raised in the book. Unfortunately, you will find few answers.
