Unbeknownst to me, the original movie only covers the first third of this book, so I was pretty surprised when I got past the "ending" and still had many pages to go! The first section of course is the story of the boy Atreus, searching for something to cure his Empress's ailment, all in a book being read by the main character, Bastian. The story continues with Bastian entering the "fictional" fantasy land and becoming transformed by it, for better and for worse. It wasn't as gripping as other journey stories, and I had a little trouble empathizing with the main characters, but all in all, it was a very enjoyable read.
