The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook
by Deb Perelman
What, you don't read cookbooks cover-to-cover? This one is beautiful, and I can tell you from cooking from Perelman's blog recipes, all of the dishes are going to come out beautifully and like you expect them to. She's a very specific, descriptive food writer. My one quibble is with the formatting. I love that there's a story to go with each recipe, but it's on the left side of each recipe's first page with the ingredients on the right. Often you have to turn the page for the instructions to begin, so there's going to be a LOT of annoying flipping back and forth... my obsessive side is thinking about photo-copying, cutting and pasting the recipes as I cook them.
