I was so so so so looking forward to this book, and it’s possible that the anticipation is part of the problem. My first disappointment was simply in its length. I’m so used to fantasy books getting longer as the series progresses, or at least staying the same length. Spoiled me felt a little cheated when I opened the box it came in. Then the back and forth constant love interest nonsense. Why why why does it so dominate the story?!? For a while it felt like every chapter. The first book was so rich. I’m sorry to say I’m disappointed in this one.
