"People are similar to plants. Neglect will cause them to wither, but with proper care, they will flourish. Prince Cassiel is only in need of a bit of sun and water."

To start this book was a delightful surprise. Not only does it have a beautiful cover but a beautiful story within it's pages.

The story follows innocent and compassionate Dyna, Zev, her overprotective half lycan cousin and Cassiel, a haughty, broody celestial prince. The three of them embark on a wild journey to the mysterious island, Mount Ida, where each hope to find answers to their troubles.

So I have a feeling some may not like Dyna as she has annoying character traits that I'm sure others will find annoying: clumsy, naive and a magnet for trouble. This girl needs a leash LOL. I say this because those were my thoughts, but hear me out, this girl has a heart of gold, but that doesn't mean she'll let you walk all over her. She's kind, understanding, compassionate and there is a quiet strength about her which is why I'm interested to see her character grow. There are other strengths women possess; and they don't all have to be an Aelin, sometimes we need a Dyna.

The worldbuilding and magic is pretty simple but also very vast. So I know this is going to be an epic fantasy with new worlds that will be explored later. The author created a world where on the surface it seems enchanting and magical but the reality is that it's pretty brutal and divided. There are some underlying themes within this story such as death ideation, social injustices, violence, slavery, racism represented by the different mythical creatures and hierarchies.

And last but not least, the sweet budding romance between Dyna and Cassiel. It was very cute and I really do need more of these two. All I will say is that EPILOGUE gave me goosebumps!

Overall, I really enjoyed this story. It has some of my favorite tropes: prophecy, quest, full of adventure, danger, romance, and a bromance in a world with mages, werewolves, celestials and other mythical creatures, that I can't wait to read the sequel!
