Forget Me Not by Willow Winters, W. Winters

5.0

Willow Winters is truly a master at writing exceptional novels. This one was so different than I expected; it was suspenseful, thrilling, and it kept me on the edge of my seat. It also had the romance that I love and needed.

Jay and Robin meet when his dad kidnaps Robin and gave her to Jay. He tries to protect her and keep her safe from him. Robin is a pawn for Jay’s father to use against him. Jay’s father keeps them locked in the basement together. Through their trauma, they build a connection with each other. At first Jay hates Robin because he was ready to give up his life until she came in the picture. Now he feels he has to protect her and keep her away from his fathers abuse. Jay helps Robin escape and eventually kills his father.

Years later, Jay comes back for Robin after she tries to kill her self. He tells her it’s for her own good, and that they can help heal each other. He sets Robin off locking her in the basement with cameras to start with, the difference is this time she has a comfortable bed.

Jay has a split personality disorder, and also thinks he is John. He brings John in to help him take care of Robin. John wants to leave with her to keep her safe and away from Jay. They both want to protect Robin at all cost. Jay doesn’t realize him and John are the same person.

Robin and Jay’s story is nothing short of a heartbreaking, emotional journey to healing for both of them. Through everything they find love in each other.

This book is dark mentally, so be prepared for that. If you have triggers, this novel has mention of suicide and physical harm to minors in it, beatings/abuse, starvation, dog attack, and talks about Jay/John setting his dad on fire. Always be aware of that when reading books. I personally don’t have any triggers but I like to mention that incase other people do. Always check the book for trigger warnings before reading it, I’ve seen people complain about triggers but you are literally given a list before you read the book.
