Deepfake by Sarah Darer Littman

um. long story short, this book kinda infuriated me with how shallow some of the plot points were, and honestly, littman could’ve shortened the book down to the first and last part (the “now” sections) and it probably would’ve worked better as a short story. the twist about who the deepfaker was is just too predictable, and i really couldn’t care less about who ended up being the face behind “rumor has it.”

characters were boring, couldn’t find myself caring about them, which is really unfortunate because the book had potential with the premise — artificial intelligence & deep learning technology is super interesting, but it just felt like it was kinda thrown in to make the story more spicy?? i definitely feel like this idea had potential; the execution was just greatly flawed.

idk, just disappointed.
