Blood of the Devil by Crea Reitan
this author definitely does rh differently which i appreciate even if they don’t work for me all the time. the relationships already being set up was great in my opinion since usually the way harems are set up don’t work for me. i just didn’t like how one character was left out. not to mention i don’t how how these ppl look other than eye and hair colour.
idk how i feel about the other guys treatment of naz. actually the way naz was roped into this relationship by seren was weird. why would she bring in someone most of her men don’t like? the moment that first date with oren went bad it should’ve ended there. naz himself said he thought it was casual. for them to call him a cheater without explaining how they do polyamory makes no sense. he was wrong for not coming clean when he found out. however i don’t think you should expect ppl to follow your relationship rules without explaining it. i usually don’t like cheating stories but this is not cheating to me. i see why the author gave that disclaimer.
the guys telling naz they will never be into him made me mad. so everyone is together except for naz? idk i think eion and seren are selfish ppl tbh. they added someone to the harem despite clearly seeing it wasn’t going to work. had some of other guys had been platonic i would’ve been okay with it but everyone else is together…so.. yeah
i feel like i’m repeating myself but naz was treated badly in this and i can’t get over it.
one last thing about naz is i think putting a character on deaths door to bridge the gap between characters is a cheap shot authors tend use imo. in this book the first time when satan did it cool. it was funny. the second time? no thanks. i wish they talked and the characters interacted more so it showed actual friendship.
it’s also not good time to be working on having a baby… like you’re in hell… figure that out first?
anyway i enjoyed it. i wish we had more word building instead of the characters narrating things. will probably read the next. i need more naz povs tbh. in my eyes he is the main character. oh and i don’t like seren. now that i think about it i don’t think i like any of the guys exact naz. lyr satan and cassie are cool too. i also don’t like the whole this person is sub and this person dom to explain their characterization.
wow this is mess of a review…
tldr: i enjoyed it despite not liking some of the relationship dynamics and the lack of focusing on the pressing issues and world building.
