On the Fence by Kasie West

Istyria book blog ~ B's world of enchanted books

Oh my god I loved On The Fence even more than The Distance Between Us! It was so perfect and amazing and I had a smile on my face the whole time. Kasie West, you're brilliant and I love you! I read it in one sitting. Could. Not. Put. It. Down.

Charlie is a tomboy. Not big on girly clothes, make-up and all that stuff. Loves sports and hanging out with her brothers and their friend/neighbor Braden (most of the time playing football or something). To pay off a speeding ticket, she starts working in a boutique in town to work off her debt and she finds herself in strange territory. At work she's a totally different version of herself, someone she doesn't recognizes. A girl with more girly clothes and make-up. She starts going out with girls and meets a guy who she can't really be herself with. Through all that, she starts having chats in the middle of the night at the fence with Braden. And even though they talk about a lot, they can't talk about what they really feel. Both of them afraid it would ruin everything.

Is it a spoiler in the blurb that Charlie falls for Braden? Technically, yeah. But it's kind of obvious so I don't count it as one. Is this book just as good as Kasie's other books? Yes!! Even better. I loved it so much. Such a great story about friendship, family, friends, being yourself,... The romance is so cute and realistic. And totally swoon-worthy.

I loved how relatable Charlie was to me. I totally understood her. I'm not that much of a tomboy as she is, but I do prefer comfortable clothes and sneakers over dresses and skirts with heels. And I also prefer boys as friends over girls most of the time. I used to at least. Charlie is sixteen and she lives with her dad and three brothers. (I also have three brothers, although I'm the oldest from the four, so it's the other way around.) I loved her family. They care so much about each other and they are so protective over Charlie! And I loved Braden! He has stuff going on at his home, so he spends a lot of time with Charlie and her brothers, playing basketball or something. He's such a sweet guy! And I also loved Linda, Charlie's boss, and her new friends Amber and the others.

Oh and Kasie, I was wondering something. If you are reading this, which would be a miracle, does this story take place as the same town from The Distance Between Us? Or is that doll store just a coincidence and I'm looking way to much into it? I was just wondering, if I'm right, that was really clever.

If you loved Kasie's other books, this is a must-read. If you haven't read them yet, but you love Young Adult Contemporary Romance, this is a must-read and so are her other books. Amazing! I'm buying it in paperback as soon as it's available. It'll look nice next to my other books from Kasie!
