This was the perfect blend of romance and mystery. Who wants Maria dead? How did she get involved in some grand political scheme? When will Eli admit he had fallen for the independent and sassy hotel owner? I loved the blend of genres and felt that the two main plot points complimented each other perfectly.

I also loved the gender role reversal when it came to the spice in this book. Maria has long enjoyed the pleasures men have to offer and is more than happy to teach Eli what makes her happy. This type of relationship is so rare in historical romances, so definitely put this on your TBR!!

While this book may not be for people who need historical accuracy in their books (let's face it, the idea of a woman owning her own hotel in 19th century Vienna is a stretch) but if you want a lighthearted and empowering historical romance, I highly recommend Hotel of Secrets.
