One More Croissant for the Road by Felicity Cloake

3.0

I read this book to prepare for my trip to France, and it was the perfect read. I learned so much about French food, especially pastries, that helped me make my way through France stomach first. I loved the narrative style as it made me feel like I was there with Cloake on her journey. She describes food so beautifully, but was not too serious, giving the book humor and a personal feel. I also loved the factual interludes and recipes. They explained more of the culture which I think is a very important part of food. My biggest critiques were with the pacing and flow of the book. It was definitely a slow read, and I had trouble keeping track of the time passing in the book. There was a weird time jump in the middle of the book that totally confused me. Also, the book desperately needed a map. I was looking up everywhere to try to understand the regions and distance, but it would have been so much easier with a map in the book. Overall though, I recommend this book to anyone traveling to France who loves food.
