Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman

5.0

"How frustrating it is to have so much power, yet be so impotent to wield it when it counts."

It hasn't been long since I finished Arc Of A Scythe book 1 but I have read a book inbetween. What I noticed in the first couple of chapters was how I settled in became. But I didn't think I would settle in so fast. There was no dense re-cap of the previous book. Also I liked that the thunderhead had more of a say in this book, which you would guess from the title.

The world in which this series takes place is so well thought out. I don't know if it's a world that I would want to live in but when reading these books I have no choice. Ever since I read Scythe, I have been thinking about the world. For some reason, it all just seems so plausible to me. This series I could sit down with a book club and discuss for hours on the ethics and morality, the characters and the rules of the new world.

This novel delves deep into what regular peoples lives are like, or shall I say unsavories which are basically the dregs of society. In a "perfect" world there will always be imperfect people because we are human. In the end aren't we all a little unsavoury?

The ending was dramatic and completely took me by surprise. I was holding my breath for one thing then another thing swept me off my feet. The cliffhanger has made it so hard not to start on 'the toll' straight away but I need a book in between to process everything.

Amazing series, definitely going to go down as one of my favourites!
