This book was a balm to the soul, mostly because you can tell how much passion and effort went into writing it. It feels like a labor of love.
It isn’t my favorite of the series, mostly because the first half focuses on the characters’ trauma and stumbling, separate journeys to healing, which, while how it should be, delivers less of the fun of seeing them together as in most books of this genre. And because I do prefer books on the lighter end of things. The emotional devastation for both leads in the first half of this book is real.
But it’s done with care and love, and when the characters finally consummate things, it’s not only knock-your-boots-off sexy, it’s written with the same level of care and thought.
Basically, this book cements it for me: the excellent first two books in this series were not a fluke. I’m on the ride now and excited for anything this author releases.
