The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo

4.0

From the very first chapter, I loved the writing style. The fact that the story started at the beginning and slowly worked towards the present moment was truly unique and enjoyable.
Now, as the story progressed, I began to form what I thought was happening at the present moment as Lucy told this story. About midway through the book, I came to the conclusion that Gabe couldn’t respond and that he was most likely in the hospital. At 3/4 through, I knew, he had to be in a coma or a related case, and she had to make the choice to let him - and the relationship between them - go. So that was the reason I didn’t rate this 5 stars, since I could predict the ending. But it was a pleasant, beautiful book, that was intertwined with the author’s beliefs - such as defying the woman’s traditional role.
