The Beholder by Anna Bright
4.0
4.5 Stars.
The Beholder had me laughing out loud, left me heartbroken and then left me hanging! It’s safe to say I enjoyed reading it.
I could feel everything that Selah was feeling as if it was my own experiences. I understand that some people will not enjoy this book and there were things I didn’t like too. Mainly the over use of the phrase “his lips were a thin line” which was very annoying to me. However what I disliked most of all was how blind Selah was to what was going on around her and waiting until the last moment to ask the right questions. And I also didn’t understand the pacing of the book one moment we have lengthy paragraphs and chapters about a single event and then glossed over other events/days in less than a page.
However I enjoyed almost everything else about it. I loved how Selah grew into herself and became a strong woman compared to how naïve she was to begin with. I loved the contrast between her suitors and their cultures. And how they contrasted with her own culture.
Overall I loved reading The Beholder and I’m excited to see what happens in the sequel
