Adder and Willow by Sam Burns

3.0

3.5 Steady Stars

Ah, things are gaining momentum and no one is more unsure of such than Fletcher, resident shape shifter, destined to be the main communicator for all living things in Rowan Harbor. He will quickly realize that there’s no room for hesitation, nor any doubts when it comes to his responsibilities or his burgeoning relationship with former hunter Conner, new to all things magic. There’s definitely an increase in the high stakes evil that is coming to town as the majority of events play out over one day - and what a day it is.

As the big bad advances and shows his cards, there was a good amount of tension and mystery and a sense of foreboding. This nicely expanded more on the various citizens of Rowan Harbor, giving them more depth and complexity. This also didn’t fail on the romance as Fletcher and Conner were sweet and sexy as they face the challenge of Conner’s parents visiting.

Again, the featured guys in this series - Devon, Jesse, Fletcher - continue to battle their issues of insecurity and doubt, continue to come into their own, and step up when needed to embody what they were destined to do. The concept is unique and still enjoyable despite the somewhat anticlimactic ending. There’s 3 more stories to go for these guys to reach their maximal potential, and I hope that Burns delivers on all fronts.
