I always read these quickly, but this volume seemed to fly by extra fast.
What I like about this volume is that it helped Izana understand Shirayuki better as a person. I think it also brought him to trust her a little more. I like that his reluctance in her relationship with Zen is only out of concern that she isn't trying to use him. It would have been easy to make the conflict pettier.
But this volume took Shirayuki and Ryu to a snowy fort, where they have to solve a mysterious illness. And I love watching her grow. This is probably my favorite "Slice of life" shoujo. There are stakes, and it could be argued that nothing really bad happens to the characters, but that's not the kind of story this is. It's wholesome, and that's what I like about it.
