The Astronaut Wives Club: A True Story
by Lily Koppel
Fun and very gossipy account of the astro wife experience. They truly were going through something entirely new and the reporters were given unprecedented access to them; the wives had to live their lives and try to smother their fear in front of the entire world.
I think the tv adaptation made a good choice in focusing more closely on the original Mercury seven wives. This slim volume couldn't really do justice to all fifty plus wives and I suffered a bit from "now who's that again" as others have mentioned. Overall though, I enjoyed it quite a lot. The narrator's style definitely contributed to the gossipy tone of the stories.
