The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
4.0

On the back cover Stephen King says, "If you thought the true gothic novel died with the 19th century, this will change your mind. The shadow of the Wind is the real deal, a novel full of cheesy splendor and creaking trapdoors, a novel where even the subplots have subplots...this is one gorgeous read." Who could sum it up better than that? There was a point halfway into the story where I was beginning to get bored and put the book down. I am so glad I picked it back up. The details that were bogging me down, made me ultimately fall in love with (or despise) the characters as the story completely came together at the end of the book. The Shadow of the Wind was beautifully written and had an ending that left me thrilled!!! BRAVO!
