Kingdom of Betrayal and Unknown by Maeve Kensington
DID NOT FINISH: 26%

Adeline is an unmarried woman living in a medieval kingdom where unmarried women are not allowed to live alone, and she's always been more of a free spirit than the other girls in her town. This is inconvenient because she's caught the eye of the prince, Archie, who wants to tame her. She's also caught the eye of a cursed Fae who keeps calling her mate, and there is more to the history of the Fae and humans in her society than she knows.

I couldn't make myself finish this book. I loved A Court of Thorns and Roses, but this book was basically a ripoff of that book and more poorly written and repetitive. I didn't finish it, but I got 100+ pages in and I really don't think it needed to be 400 pages long, it felt like barely anything happened in the first 100 pages that I couldn't predict. The inspiration from ACOTAR was clear, but combine the fated mates, curse, cruel older sister and Fae High Lord title and it seemed more like plagiarism than inspiration. Adeline even wanted to paint Kieran's eyes, which is a pivotal moment in Feyre and Rhysand's love story. If you're basically just looking for more ACOTAR but not ACOTAR, you can take a chance on this book, but I wouldn't advise it.
