I was really hesitant with this first book when it came out, but I heard incredible things about the second book and I am a big fan of Maas’s writing. So I decided to give it another chance. And just like most of her books, it took me until the first hundred pages of the first book to fully get into it, but I really did once it happened. The characters are older than the first few of her other series and the world is much more modernized but there are clear distinctions and yet connections with her other series. For one, the ability of the main character to travel in between the various universes. This in particular I think has potential for future capabilities of the characters connections to Maas’s other worlds.
