This is a pretty solid read, switching between teenagers in the past who learn to harness magic through music (if you’ve read the comic Phonogram, you have a pretty good base idea of how the channeling of the magic works) to deal with the shit happening around them, and the adults twenty years later who end up reuniting as one of their fathers passes. Despite some darker turns (cw for sexual harassment/attempted assault), it’s a pretty light book overall, and focuses on how miscommunication can spoil a good thing. I picked this up on sale, and for the price I got it for, I’d recommend paging through it and seeing what you think.
