I wasn’t really sure about this book at first. I didn’t understand what it was about until about 80 pages into the book. As a reader, the topics and themes in this book are modern, and the literary elements in this book were lovey. I really liked all of the story lines and nuanced characteristics of each character. A large part of me wants more from this book. I want to know more about Reese’s story, Loretta’s story, Early’s story, and Jude’s story. Weirdly enough, I want some of these to be detailed and longer as these stories were very interesting. It was just weird because I felt that the chronology of the story was appropriate, but I would love to fill in some of the gaps because I loved this author’s style of writing. Overall, an excellent read and excellent stories. If done correctly, I think this book would make a phenomenal movie.
