“After all since the world began, we’ve been eating each other. If not symbolically, then we’ve been literally gorging on each other. The Transition has enabled us to be less hypocritical.”
I have never had a book make me feel the way Tender Is The Flesh did. Disgusting, yet enthralling - simply one of the best books I have yet to read.
🥩
This book is set in a world where animals have been widely exterminated due to a deadly zoonotic virus and a special meat has been substituted in diets internationally. Yet, it felt so real. It felt as though I was reading a first hand account of something that was terrifyingly possible. It truly does show you the true nature of human beings and how easily humans are able to separate themselves from “others”.

This book did take a while for me to properly digest and get through, without having a slight mental breakdown 😅
