For the most part, this book was very good. I loved Tanner, he was well written and it was fun seeing him manage to live and thrive even in an environment that doesn't make it easy for queer people to be. His family was so supportive and just amazing.
Sebastian was a bit less likeable to me and was the reason for not hitting 4 stars (4 is basically re-read worthy for me). It just didn't seem realistic that someone so deep in the closet/in denial would agree so quickly to date another guy even while rejecting his queerness at the same time. I get that he was working to figure out his identtiy/ accept himself, but again like someone that closeted would not agree to date someone of the same gender without more thought or even pushback. We do get to see why he's unwilling to get out of the closet meeting his family, which was so sad to me like let people love who they want to!
This being said, I'll still look into this author and their books in the future, since the story was still very compelling and worth the time it took to read it.
