On one hand, this book is not a bad book. There is something here for 'someone', I'm just not that someone that the book is looking for in regards to fandom.
On the other hand, it is a book that features a bunch of characters with no real depth or thing that make them interesting except the main character.
I mentioned in my reviews that the plot is wasted on them. They are interesting but they don't exactly lend to the plot or lend to one another. The action seems to roll right by them and they're just standing around. The more fascinating things happen with Vic.
The other reason I didn't seem to enjoy the book is none of the characters seemed to suffer any hardships or there was a time when they were against any odds. Everything seemed to really work out in favor of the plot and that bugged me.
While there is world building there is no depth to the world building, everything just seems very surface. It's baffling that I'm having a problem with this book. Since it reminds me a lot of something Brandon Sanderson would right.
I just don't think that I'm the right fan of this book and that is perfectly fine! However the book does have some faults and that's why I knocked it down two stars.
