How did I get to this book? A YA book about a Catholic high school? I don’t know how this landed on my reading list, but frankly, I’m glad it did. When I first started it, I wasn’t aware it was YA, and I’m not opposed, I just wasn’t thinking about it. Then it became a little clearer as the book went on (the subject matter, the pace of reading, etc) but I was hooked by then. Sure, it’s probably a little below my standard reading fare, but we’ve all been to high school and we’ve all had parents and relationships and angst, so at least we know what’s going on. So, it’s interesting and at least it didn’t seem formulaic. The characters are interesting and not everything is wrapped up in a tidy bow at the end, so it’s worth your while.
