The 13th Gift: A True Story of a Christmas Miracle by Joanne Huist Smith

5.0

We started this 13 days before Christmas and read one chapter per day. It's been a very busy December so there were a couple nights we missed and had to read two the next night to stay on schedule, but overall it was a very good system given the nature of the story which follows a family who receives one gift per day in the 12 days leading up to Christmas.

If you've always been a Grinch, this isn't likely to convert you, but if you do love Christmas it's a really heart warming true story that highlights all the things I love about the holiday.

Of all the books we read this year, I think this will be the one that I recommend to the most people once December rolls around again next year. I can think of dozens of people who I'm positive would enjoy it just as much as Laura and I did, but because of the way that we read it, the pushy recommendations will have to wait until next year.

But seriously. I'm going to tell almost everyone I know who likes Christmas that they should check it out next holiday season.
