I read abut 300 pages of this book back in 2009 and had to put it down for a rest, feeling bloated on the author's own self importance.
Every now and then it niggles at me that I have not finished this book, but I just can't commit so much time to reading this utter codswallop.
The GCSE philosophy, the painful metaphors and similes, the depiction of Prabaker as Apu from The Simpsons... It's awful! Yes, I get it, Karla's (I've forgotten her name) eyes are green! Yes, you learnt the language, gold star for you, stop ramming that fact down my throat.
I will have to finish the book on principle, and if I leave it much longer, I am going to have to go back and [i]re-read[/] what I have already read for continuity, but it despairs me to spend circa 900 pages with someone so full of self-importance, and so called wisdom. Everyone seems to have forgotten that he has escaped from prison and left his wife and children behind too. What a role model!
