Thank you to Anna Durand for sending me an ebook Advanced Readers Copy as part of her ARC team for me to read and leave an honest review.

The Thirteenth Fae is Anna Durand’s sixth book in her Undercover Elementals series. This is my first dive into the series as I’ve not yet had the pleasure of reading any of the previous books, so it was going to be an immersive experience for me diving into yet another branch of Anna’s writing repertoire.

In this read we got to meet Tris and Riley Jordan, our leading main characters for this novel, one a Fae and the other a human. Here is the first twist of fate. Their paths crossed in the most interesting of ways, now from that moment on they not only had to navigate the journey both of them were on prior to meeting, but the events that would unfold. Everything is far from smooth sailing and it’s up to the two to see if they can weather the storm that has encompassed not one, but both of their worlds. Literally.

The world in which Tris and Riley have been written into was one I had to get used to personally, but not in a bad way. I’m not a heavy reader of fantasy/mystical/paranormal-style reads and diving into a series quite a ways in within this genre took some getting used to in terms of familiarising myself. Anna does a fantastic job of crafting the world, the creatures and the complexity of the nature of fantasy, and I did eventually familiarise myself and understand everything she has written here. Hopefully now when I dive into the next book in the series—which is the last in the series—, I’ll feel more at ease now being familiar with how this series is and the characters within it.

That said, I did enjoy the story once I was at a point in which things made sense and I was able to understand the way things worked within the Fae world, get my head and tongue around the names and creatures. Once you’re up to speed with those things, you’ll enjoy the story as much as I did.

If this book is an example of how the rest of the series has been so far, then I’m definitely going to be adding all of the books to my TBR. I was won over by the engaging and thrilling story and how things would play out towards the end. We all love a Happily Ever After, and this one was well-earned and deserved.

Five stars!
