I received an ARC of Dry through the bookstore I work at and I am writing my honest opinion of this book.
There is a reason that Neal Shusterman is one of my favorite authors, and has been since I was young.
It's his ability to weave a wild tale while still grounding it in enough truth so that it makes the story visceral and engaging.
Dry is no exception.
As you follow Alyssa and her group through the hellscape that is California after fresh water runs out, you get intimately acquainted with the possibilities of the future and darkness that humanity can contain. But you also get a breath of fresh air in the fleeting moments where humanity proves it can be all that we hope it can be. Dry is a horrifying look into a situation that could become a reality much sooner than any of us would like to believe.
Without giving away spoilers, I can say that Dry may just be one of my new favorite works by Shusterman and I highly recommend that you get this book and read it when it releases.
