"Before the Bridgertons came the love story that changed the ton..."

Queen Charlotte by Julia Quinn and Shonda Rhimes tells the story of Princess Sophia Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz of Germany and her journey to the centre of the British Monarchy and into the heart of King George III.

As the "Dearest Gentle Reader" is informed at the beginning "It is not a history lesson. It is fiction inspired by fact...Enjoy." and I really did! It is a captivating historical novel with vivid and complex characters including their Majesties attendants, Reynolds and Brimsley, and Doctor Monroe, who is the King's physician, with very sadistic methods of treating His Royal Highness' madness.

I borrowed a copy of this book from Taunton Library and I listened to it on Spotify. I read it for the Read It, Watch It challenge for the 52 Book Club 2024 challenge, a character driven novel. I watched the television series on Netflix, which was a sumptuous 6 part mini-series.
