I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

3.0

2.5*
This book had a lot of themes, but the main two were a) family and b) sexuality. Fine, cool, a book showing how sexuality shapes people's lives, but I didn't go into I'll Give You the Sun to read a book about it. Call me a prude, but sexual content weirds me out and it doesn't add anything to my enjoyment of a story.
There were some intriguing plot points and the writing was done in an interesting way, but I was, for the most part, indifferent-leaning-toward-negative.
The chapters were also ridiculously long - each one was fifty or more pages, practically their own novels in and of themselves.
I have to say I'm disappointed! The high ratings had me fooled.
