Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World
by Vicki Myron
Dewey, Dewey, Dewey, what to say about Dewey? I guess I should start by saying I am not judging Dewey... but rather the book written about him. I had really high expectations for this book, especially after reading "Marley and Me". I asked for it for Christmas and when I got it, I thought for sure I would blaze through it. It is now March and I just got through it. I feel that the book itself could have been much better had there been better writing. I don't know what happened but the writing in it is not appealing... and yes there are some typos. I hate that. But that is a side note. In addition, I feel that much of the book was not about Dewey but rather a memoir of the author herself. This would be fine... if the title weren't "Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World". I am sure that I would have loved and admired Dewey greatly if I knew him... but unfortunately I don't love and admire this book.
