This book made me feel so much. I’ve been thinking about it non-stop trying to find pockets of time in my busy day to finish it. I didn’t pick it up at first because I didn’t like Lizzie’s character in the first 4 books. Then I saw the reviews on TT and decided to give it a try.

To say this book triggered me is an understatement. The raw pain and anxiety and devastation I felt alone makes this book 5 stars. To me a book that made me feel this much is phenomenal. It’s not an easy subject to read but in no way would I consider it inappropriate or think the author wrote it for nefarious purposes. It’s real. This shit happens to real kids in real life. And you can turn a blind eye and not bear witness to it but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.

People have very valid reasons for not wanting to read child SA on the page. And I do think the specific violence could’ve been made more obvious in the trigger warning before you start the book. But you don’t get to tear down the author for bearing witness to a horrific crime and writing it on the page in HER book series. Not to mention, this book seems slightly auto-biographical or at least inspired by the authors life.
