3.5⭐️ Okayyyy, I was shockingly intrigued by this story. At no point did I know where it was going, and I went in completely blind. All I knew beforehand was that it’s a King Midas retelling and that someone described it as torture p*rn. Happy to report—I didn’t think it was that at all, lol. Sure, it’s dark and graphic, and honestly, the audiobook could use way better trigger warnings, but *to me*, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I was expecting.
And maybe that’s the trick to enjoying this book—go in completely blind with less than zero expectations, LOL. You can definitely tell this book was written to set up the world, so not a ton happens until the last few chapters, but when things do start happening? The twists hit, and they’ll leave you wanting to continue the series!
