Pucking Around by Emily Rath
Did not finish book. Stopped at 80%.
DNF at 80%
We lost the plot....quite literally. I knew it was going to be a romance-and-spice-heavy book and I'm fine with that! Usually that makes for a light, enjoyable read. But I was starting to lose hope that we would get back on track at any point.
I loved the characters and their interactions and banter, and I liked hearing from all their viewpoints, but I felt like we were getting less and less of the plot as we continued. Also, I felt that the Rachel we see in the prequel is different from the Rachel we see in the rest of the book. In the prequel she's strong, self-assured, and witty; but the Rachel in the rest of the book is more selfish, very focused on star signs and seems to present herself differently depending on which love interest she's with. Plus I wasn't super enjoying the addition of a 4th love interest as it heavily hinted at how the relationships were going to work out and just skewed the spice-to-plot ratio even more.
I did listen to the audiobook version so I'm not sure if that impacted my feelings towards the book. Maybe I would've liked it more had I read the book rather than listened to it (no shade or hate to the narrators though - overall I really liked them). Also, odd as it may seem, I did enjoy the author's writing style and would be interested in reading another of her (hopefully shorter) books.
