Teen Titans: Beast Boy by Kami Garcia

2.0

This graphic novel had more world-building and character/relationship development than other DC storylines I've read, making it much more enjoyable.

The artwork was great and I really enjoyed the consistent addition of the color green throughout the pages. The negative about this graphic novel is that the main character, Gar, is insufferable. I couldn't care less about this character as he doesn't have any redeeming qualities.

Vain, self-centered, selfish, and not a great friend to his two best friends who consistently support, bail him out, and drop everything for him even though Gar pines to be with the vapid, popular kids that have made fun of him for years.

Once the reveal happens that Gar has powers the story ends abruptly as he leaves to search for answers, but we are left with no resolution to his newfound popularity and if he humbles himself and becomes a better friend. Overall, a much better DC teen story, but I won't be reading book 3.
