This book was dark, emotionally intense, and unexpectedly addictive. The dual timeline worked really well, I loved seeing 18-year-old Stacey and Kade as shy, vulnerable teenagers slowly falling for each other. It made their present day emotional distance and trauma hit much harder.

Stacey's Situation is heartbreaking. She is hated by her ex for a video he saw, not knowing it was edited and that her abusive stepbrother had been selling her body. The fact that she still lives under the same roof as him is deeply disturbing.

Kade’s obsession is raw and dark, but you can still see the boy he once was. He’s broken in his own way, and the chemistry between him and Stacey is intense, sometimes overwhelming. The smut is graphic but well written and emotionally charged.

However, the miscommunication trope was frustrating. Some scenes felt repetitive just because the characters wouldn’t say what needed to be said. I’m really hoping book 2 clears that up and gives them a real chance to heal and grow.

That said, the book still gave me all the messy Wattpad vibes,  just with more depth, darker themes, and much better writing.
