Reading this book right after Angels Before Man was perfect. It healed the cuts and burns ABM left behind. Sealed them with a salve, a cup of tea, and a warm hug, saying “You can always call me, you know that right? I will always be here for you. A shoulder to cry on, a sofa to sleep on, or just a cup of tea. Don’t be afraid to call or stop by”. It transformed the tears and deep sadness into laughter at the quick wit and longing for the two characters to just kiss already! The imagery was gorgeous, seeping every scene and conversation into your mind. Colin and Bishop were extremely relatable, especially their queerness. Both of their stories and traumas were beautifully portrayed and tragic, yet at the same time, the way they bonded over those traumas and formed a connection filled with love is beyond words.

“Colin hadn’t realized he would’ve begged for intimacy until right then. Would’ve crawled across hot coals, would’ve swallowed false sainthood, would’ve battled another Marquis of Hell, just for a chance at this.”
