I really enjoyed this book.

It's completely different from what I was expecting (it was so much better) because I was not hoping to really like the main character. I like how "empty" he is, how emotionless he sees things... But what really made me like this character is how much he loves dogs (ah ah ah)!

This is a really well written story, all the characters are super interesting and the fact that the story has a very futuristic background really sold me into it. I appreciate the way the author turns Jacob's (the main character) Cotard syndrome into his job, because he feels nothing, he is capable of being a cold blooded killer. At the same time, Jacob is constantly telling us how his brain works, the differences between his Spark and the Shell which is holding it in... We can really understand what is going on inside him and, therefore, his actions. This is how you write a relatable character even when that character is almost impossible to relate to (except for the dog thing).

Now I'm on the hunt for more John Twelve Hawks books.
